The Castle Douglas Surface Dressing Process

Surface dressing is also known as 'Tar & Chip'. To surface dress Castle Douglas road surfaces, we carry out a couple of main steps:

1. A level, even application of bitumen binder onto the existing road surface from a spray tanker
2. An even application of aggregate chippings directly afterwards to provide the solid skid-resistant top layer

Tar & Chip surface dressing is generally not rolled into the surface afterwards, instead relying on the weight of subsequent traffic around Castle Douglas to compress the chippings and naturally level out small imperfections.

Properly applied Chip & Tar should last well in excess of 10 years, even on dressed surfaces that receive very heavy traffic.

The price for tar & chip surface dressing in Castle Douglas can vary greatly depending on a number of key factors, such as:

• The size and depth of the road surface
• The age of the current road
• Additional drainage requirements
• How easy it is to access the road
• The current surface condition
• Many other factors....

The above information must be taken into account when providing prices for Castle Douglas tar and chipping, which is why we request comprehensive information before giving you a quote.
